UCF’s Stormwater
Lab:
This project was brought to
life in May of 2007 with an 800 square foot
greenroof. This application was on a
government building and was built to show that
lightweight greenroofs can be designed and succeed
in Florida. The total saturated weight of this
roof is about 20 lbs/ft2 with a thickness
of just 3 inches. The plants used were 100%
native and the roof is irrigated using recycled
greenroof filtrate as well as gray water from a sink
within the lab. The project location is in
Orland Florida at the University of Central
Florida’s main campus.
